BBC News – Saturday Morning Breakfast
Maverick Slacklines teamed up with Mike Bushell from the BBC and presented a feature on Slacklining in his news section on unusual sports. Maverick were given the task of teaching Mike how to slackline, demonstrating some tricks and introducing the Slackline club that has started in Brighton against the backdrop of the ruins of the old pier. Maverick slacklines were responsible for organising the event and travelled over to Brighton for filming with the cream of the UK talent. Maverick worked on this project with Citroen as part of the Brighton Fringe Festival.

BBC – Country Tracks
The BBC’s Country Tracks team contacted Maverick and invited to get involved with their successful TV series celebrating the great outdoors. This episode was to be filmed throughout Wiltshire starring TV presenter Helen Skelton, famous for walking the Battersea Power Station Tightrope for Comic Relief. The idea behind the programme was that Maverick would be brought in to introduce viewers to Slacklining and teach Helen Skelton the basics. Maverick worked closely with the BBC and Salisbury City Council to find the appropriate venue for filming, get the site cleared with the Council and ensure the space was safe for everyone involved.

ITV / SYCO TV – Red or Black 2012

ITV / SYCO TV – Red or Black 2011
Maverick Slacklines were drafted in by Simon Cowell’s TV company, ‘SYCO’ to work on the most expensive TV show in UK history! Maverick Slacklines worked alongside the award winning duo Ant & Dec and their backstage team in the programme which was designed to give ordinary people across the UK the chance to become millionaires. The premis of the show was simple; vote red or black and have a 50/50 chance of winning a million pounds. The challenge was set, two of our experienced highliners had to race against each other between castle turrets 100ft off the ground! Contestants voted on whether the guy dressed in Red or Black would come in first. The stunt was a first for UK slacklining and was most high profile stunt in UK slackline history. The show was watched by millions of viewers and was reported in many of the UK papers. Maverick were responsible for rigging the slacklines and ensuring all the safety precautions had been taken. The stunt was a huge success and the ITV show producers claimed it was the highlight of the show.

CBBC – Live ‘n’ Deadly
Maverick Slacklines performed to 1000′s of young people in Swindon as part of the Live ‘n’ Deadly roadshow, the workshops and demo sessions went down a storm and were so successful that we were invited over to Wales to get involved with the Live TV programme. We had the task of rigging the slacklines and showing the presenters how to do what we do. We performed live on TV Saturday morning and had a great day with the CBBC crew.

London 2012 Festival Film – WHAT IF
Slacklining Clip – Featuring Maverick team riders Jake and Ben
Based on the Rudyard Kipling poem “If”, the film was one of four films commissioned and financed by BBC Films and Film Four in association with the London 2012 Festival, Cultural Olympiad and the National Lottery. Directed by Max & Dania. A slick, inspiring and sentimental, urban story about moral responsibility casually showcasing London’s freerunners, slackliners, skateboarders and BMXers.

CBBC – Friday Download
Jake White, Matt Brown and Lloyd Mitchener did a piece of filmwork for the ever popular kids TV programme, ‘Friday Download’. The CBBC crew meet up with our riders down at the beach in Brighton and shot a video to showcase our sport. Our crew were involved with interviews, organising the event and ensuring that everything went off smoothly.

Host Gabby Logan is joined by a different expert each day to discuss a range of topical issues, welcoming guests with incredible stories to tell and contributions from the audience both at home and in the studio. Gabby and Andi Osho try their hand at an unusual way to keep fit – Slacklining with Ian Jennings from Maverick Slacklines! + Presenter, Mikey Kay takes a trip down to The Outdoor Show at the Excel centre, London to check out the latest activities to get your blood pumping. ITV – Meridian News
Meridian TV travelled to Poole to film for a primetime news feature on the UK’s first Slackline park at Sandbanks Beach in Poole. The slackline park was designed by Maverick Slacklines and installed by the Council. The park caters for learners and experienced riders, and has proved to be a great success. The Maverick Slacklines team descended on the new park to meet Martin Dowse and the Meridian film crew, along with Richard Nicholson from the Borough of Poole, and showed off their skills in the brand spanking new facility!

CBBC – WILD
Maverick Slacklines where invited by the BBC to take part in a live broadcast of, ‘WILD’, a brand new children’s TV programme on CBBC aimed at getting kids outdoor and active. The filming took place in the New Forest, super early on Saturday morning. Russ & Lloyd were given the task of demonstrating slacklining and explaining to the viewers, what it’s all about.
